Taking the Shandong region as the benchmark, n-butanol closed at 8100-8100 yuan/ton today, in line with the morning forecast. Today, domestic n-butanol prices traded sideways in consolidation, with a more cautious wait-and-see atmosphere and deals concentrated at the lower end of the price range. In the afternoon, feedstock propylene prices rose sharply, increasing cost pressure. Although some units restarted after maintenance, production has not fully recovered, spot supply in the market remains limited, and downstream buyers are mainly purchasing cautiously on a need-to basis.

3. Production Developments

Today, the domestic n-butanol capacity utilization rate stood at 72%. With feedstock propylene prices rising, n-butanol producers currently earn a profit of around 608 yuan/ton.

4. Price Forecast

At present, feedstock propylene has risen substantially and is expected to keep climbing, providing increasingly strong cost support. Downstream purchasing interest has been stimulated to some extent, and inquiry and transaction activity in the market is slowly picking up. With trading still centered at the lower end of the price range, market prices are expected to consolidate with fluctuations.

5. Related Product Review

2-Ethylhexanol (2-EH) market: Today, the domestic 2-EH market held firm. With international crude oil and feedstock propylene prices rising sharply, trading sentiment for new orders in the 2-EH market improved somewhat. Spot transaction prices edged slightly higher, downstream users mostly maintained need-based purchasing, and spot supply remained persistently tight.

Feedstock propylene jumping 5% should eventually lift n-butanol cost support, but with capacity utilization at 72% and cautious downstream buying, margins stay squeezed and the sideways consolidation looks justified for ..
