The first 600,000-ton unit of the 1.8-million-ton-per-year syngas-to-ethylene glycol plant operated by Shaanxi Yulin Chemical has recently resumed operation, with its operating load returning to normal. This unit had been shut down for maintenance since March 10. The second 600,000-ton unit is scheduled to undergo maintenance starting April 15, with an expected duration of approximately 20 days.
A 550,000-ton-per-year and a 700,000-ton-per-year ethylene glycol plant in Saudi Arabia have recently been shut down due to force majeure. Further updates on their restart timeline will be provided as they become available.
As of April 2, the total port inventory of MEG in East China’s main ports stood at 935,000 tons. The breakdown is as follows: Zhangjiagang—540,000 tons, Taicang—295,000 tons, Jiangyin & Changzhou—45,000 tons, Shanghai & Changshu—55,000 tons. In terms of port shipments: the average daily shipment from Zhangjiagang this week was around 5,200 tons, while Taicang recorded approximately 5,900 tons per day.
As of April 8, 2026, the total estimated ethylene glycol arrivals at East China ports are projected to be 56,700 tons. The distribution is as follows: Zhangjiagang—32,700 tons, Taicang—18,000 tons, Ningbo—0 tons, Jiangyin—6,000 tons.
