Ethylene Glycol Industry Weekly Highlights (May 22–28, 2026)

  1. A 300,000-ton ethylene glycol plant in Inner Mongolia is scheduled to shut down for maintenance for 28 days around June 10. The plant is currently operating stably.

  2. As of June 3, 2026, total ethylene glycol arrivals at East China ports are expected to be 43,300 tons, including 18,000 tons at Zhangjiagang, 15,500 tons at Taicang, and 9,800 tons at Jiangyin. No arrivals are planned for other warehouse areas.

  3. As of May 28, total ethylene glycol inventory at East China main ports stood at 646,000 tons, a decrease of 28,000 tons from the previous period. Breakdown: Zhangjiagang 346,000 tons, Taicang 204,000 tons, Jiangyin and Changzhou 48,000 tons, Shanghai and Changshu 48,000 tons. In terms of shipments: average daily shipments at Zhangjiagang were 5,600 tons, and at Taicang approximately 1,800 tons.

    The 28-day shutdown is a clear signal for potential supply tightening, but with current margins already squeezed by high feedstock costs, the inventory draw may not be enough to shift the balance near-term.
