The real growth story is in specialty acrylates, not commodity nBA. As water-based coatings mature, the incremental volume will come from high-performance products like 2-EHA and SAP-grade acrylic acid. Commodity butyl acrylate will face margin erosion unless producers can flex capacity toward higher-value esters.
Watch the feedstock spread closely. Butyl acrylate margins are currently around the 39% historical percentile, meaning there is room for further price hikes if acrylic acid stays firm. But if crude retreats, the cost support weakens quickly, and buyers may delay restocking.
