Stearic acid prices remained elevated before the holiday, with market participants continuing to engage in strategic positioning after the break.

Published on 2026-10-02

Introduction: During the National Day holiday, the capacity utilization rate of stearic acid remained stable at 46%, consistent with levels seen in 2025. Prior to the holiday, suppliers actively shipped inventory to clear stock, while end-users made moderate purchases based on immediate demand.

1. Transaction Activity and Cost Support Keep Stearic Acid Prices Elevated

As of September 30, the delivered market price for domestically produced Grade I stearic acid in East China ranged from CNY 10,000 to 10,100 per ton, representing a month-on-month increase of CNY 300 per ton. The delivered market price for mainstream imported stearic acid in East China stood between CNY 10,100 and 10,300 per ton. Throughout the month, stearic acid prices maintained their elevated levels and remained firm, primarily driven by the combined effects of transaction activity and cost support.
