N-Butanol Market Morning Briefing (September 9, 2026)

Published on 2026-09-09

I. Focus Points

  1. n-Butanol prices consolidated in a volatile range.
  2. Downstream purchasing was based on rigid demand.
  3. Sept 8: Houthi forces attacked Saudi oil facilities, the U.S.-Iran military conflict continued, and supply risks drove international oil prices higher. NYMEX crude oil futures for October delivery rose USD 1.55/bbl to USD 93.03/bbl, up 1.69%; ICE Brent futures for November delivery rose USD 0.92/bbl to USD 97.92/bbl, up 0.95%. China INE crude oil futures for the 2610 contract rose 14.8 to CNY 703.3/bbl, and gained another 11.4 to CNY 714.7/bbl in night trading.

II. Price List

Product Region Previous Price Current Price Change Rate
n-Butanol Shandong 8100 8100 0%
Butyl Acrylate East China 9100 9200 +1.10%
Butyl Acetate East China 7300 7350 +0.68%
DBP Henan 9300 9550 +1.61%

Notes:

  1. n-Butanol, butyl acrylate, butyl acetate and DBP all meet the national standard premium grade.
  2. Prices of the four products are in CNY/ton.

III. Market Outlook

Yesterday, domestic n-butanol market prices trended sideways with some fluctuations. Propylene feedstock prices rose markedly on crude oil gains, strengthening cost support. As maintenance units gradually resumed production, market supply recovered only slowly. Plant inventories remained low, while downstream purchasing interest was centered toward the lower end of the price range. Today, the domestic n-butanol market is expected to undergo range-bound adjustment.

The crude pop on Saudi supply risk hasn't pushed n-butanol yet, but feedstock propylene and butyl acrylate margins are tightening. I'd watch downstream rigid demand and capacity utilization before expecting any real brea..
