Fluctuations in Brazil's ethanol supply and demand impact domestic ethanol prices

Published on 2026-11-04

Chempricehub, November 4 — During the current crushing season in central-south Brazil, sugar mills have adjusted their production mix, increasing the proportion of sugarcane allocated to ethanol to 52% for the 2026/27 crop year. Domestic mandatory blending at E32 continues to absorb significant output, leaving limited surplus available for export. The landed cost quotes for Brazilian denatured ethanol have risen month-over-month, serving as a key benchmark for domestic import prices of anhydrous ethanol in China. While Brazilian corn-based ethanol capacity is steadily expanding—enhancing long-term export potential—it has not yet contributed substantial incremental volumes in the short term.
