Downward Adjustment in Profit Margins of the Industrial Pyrolysis C9 Value Chain (2026-11-30 to 2026-11-06)

Published on 2026-11-06

Profit Change Statistics for the Domestic Industrial Pyrolysis C9 Industry Chain

Unit: RMB/ton

Product Current Period Previous Period Change Value Change Rate Next Period Trend
Industrial Aromatic Solvent -91 -39 -52 -133.33% ↓
C9 Thermally Polymerized Petroleum Resin -228 -164 -64 -39.02% ↑

During the current period, downstream profits in the pyrolysis C9 industry chain declined across the board. For industrial aromatic solvents, the weekly average prices of both the product and raw materials rose compared to the previous week; however, the increase in product prices did not keep pace with that of raw materials, resulting in an overall decrease in profit margins on a week-over-week basis. Similarly, for C9 thermally polymerized petroleum resin, the weekly average prices of both the product and its feedstock (pyrolysis C9) increased relative to the previous week. Yet, as the price hike for the resin was less pronounced than that for the raw material, theoretical profit margins also contracted week-over-week.

The recent squeeze on industrial pyrolysis C9 margins highlights severe feedstock cost pressure. With aromatic solvent profits turning negative, the inability to pass costs downstream is risky. I expect capacity utilizat..
