According to Chempricehub’s September 17 report, domestic average weekly production costs for vinyl acetate via the calcium carbide method currently stand at RMB 6,598.20 per ton. Producing one ton of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) requires approximately 1.7–1.9 tons of vinyl acetate, resulting in a theoretical weekly average cost of RMB 8,836.58 per ton for PVA. Based on Great Wall Energy & Chemical’s listed price of RMB 1,799, the theoretical gross margin—including crude methyl acetate—is RMB 2,643.42 per ton.
