Coatings: serves as a coalescing agent in waterborne paints, improving film formation and reducing defects such as cracking and pinholes in low-temperature, high-humidity conditions.
Batteries: acts as a key cyclic carbonate solvent in lithium-ion battery electrolytes, enhancing low-temperature performance and conductivity.
Industrial: used as a solvent for gas sweetening (CO₂ and H₂S removal), an extractant for olefins and aromatics, a spinning solvent, a plasticizer, and a dispersant for dyes and pigments.
Chemical synthesis: a raw material for producing dimethyl carbonate via transesterification and other carbonate derivatives.
