1,4-Diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO, also known as triethylenediamine or TEDA, CAS 280-57-9) is a white crystalline solid with high water solubility (46 g/100 mL at 26 °C) and a tendency to sublime at room temperature. It is a versatile bicyclic tertiary amine widely used as a catalyst and base in organic synthesis.

Catalysis: acts as a nucleophilic catalyst in the Morita–Baylis–Hillman reaction and as a base catalyst in polyurethane foam, elastomer, and coating production.
Organic synthesis: used to activate n-butyllithium by deaggregation, promoting lithiation reactions, and serves as a catalyst in Boc anhydride production.
Fine chemicals: applied as an initiator in pesticide manufacturing and as an additive in epoxy resin curing and ethylene polymerization.
Specialty applications: used in dye industry to prevent UV-induced fading and as an environmentally friendly cyanide-free electroplating additive.
