Why is cineole demand rising in animal feed as antibiotic growth promoters are phased out?
China's withdrawal of certain in-feed antibiotic growth promoters has pushed formulators toward plant-derived alternatives, and cineole-rich eucalyptus oil is among the candidates. The oil is a natural mixture of monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes, alcohols, esters, aldehydes and ketones, with cineole as the principal active component. Suppliers position it as supporting respiratory and intestinal health, reducing stress and improving growth performance in poultry. The feed channel is attractive because volumes are large and recurring, but it is also price-sensitive and specification-driven. This creates a second demand pillar alongside the established pharmaceutical, flavor and daily chemical applications, tightening the balance for higher-purity cineole grades.
