Epichlorohydrin's demand profile is tightly linked to epoxy resin, which consumes about 85% of output. Epoxy resin feeds into wind turbine blades, lithium battery encapsulation, copper-clad laminates for electronics, and protective coatings. The push for offshore wind capacity is a structural growth driver, as blade manufacturing requires high-performance epoxy composites. On the supply side, China is adding capacity through both traditional routes and newer green technologies. For example, a 75,000-ton-per-year glycerin-based expansion in Qingdao is under development, part of a broader shift toward cleaner processes. Meanwhile, integrated producers are building upstream-downstream chains, coupling epichlorohydrin with bisphenol A and epoxy resin to capture more value. The market remains cyclical, but the renewable energy and electronics end-markets provide a demand floor that was absent a decade ago.
