Weekly Statistics of Sample Production Profits of China's C5 Industrial Chain (Aug 14–20, 2026)

Published on 2026-08-20

On August 20, the price of cracked C5 rose by 1.70%; dicyclopentadiene, isoprene, and piperylene prices increased by 3.33%, 1.04%, and 1.45%, respectively; and the price of cracked C5 residual liquid fell by 3.70%. Overall, the price of cracked C5 residual liquid dropped significantly, resulting in a sharp contraction in weekly profit.

Next week, the cracked C5 price is expected to be pushed upward, while pentadiene products and cracked C5 residual liquid are expected to see only limited increases, so C5 separation profit will continue to decline.

Table: Separation profit of the cracked C5 industrial chain

Unit: CNY/ton

Product 8/20 8/13 Change
Industrial cracked C5 6053 5952 101
Dicyclopentadiene (polyester grade) 7440 7200 240
Isoprene (polymerization grade) 12525 12396 129
Piperylene (petroleum resin grade) 7637 7528 109
Shandong cracked C5 residual liquid 8330 8650 -320
C5 separation profit (theoretical) 49 200 -151

Cracked C5 feedstock cost keeps rising while residual liquid drops, squeezing C5 separation margins further. I doubt pentadiene prices can catch up, so the profit squeeze likely persists next week.
