Weekly Statistical Data on Production Profit of Acrylic Emulsion in China (Oct 23–29, 2026)

Published on 2026-10-29

As of October 29, 2026, the theoretical gross margin for pure acrylic emulsion production this week stood at CNY 793.5 per ton, representing a week-on-week increase of CNY 19 (or 2.45%). In contrast, the theoretical gross margin for styrene-acrylic emulsion production was negative, at -CNY 219.04 per ton, reflecting a week-on-week decline of CNY 11.44 (or 5.51%). The primary driver behind these trends was the rising price of butyl acrylate and the volatile movement of styrene prices (rising then falling), which continued to exert cost pressure on styrene-acrylic emulsions, leading to a slight contraction in their profitability.

Sample Description: On the data release date, Chempricehub calculates theoretical costs and monitors profits based on statistics for pure acrylic and styrene-acrylic emulsion prices, as well as listed raw material prices.

Definitions:

  • Cost: Production cost refers to the sum of direct expenses, direct labor, and indirect manufacturing overhead incurred by an enterprise to produce a specific type and quantity of product. For acrylic emulsions, production cost is calculated theoretically based on the three main raw materials: butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate (MMA), and styrene.
  • Profit: This is the production profit calculated using the market prices of pure acrylic and styrene-acrylic emulsions as the baseline. It is defined as the emulsion price minus total costs and additional fees (excluding financial expenses).

Statistical Methodology: The statistical period covers last Friday through this Thursday. Data comparisons are made between the profit figures for this Thursday and last Thursday. Chempricehub’s acrylic emulsion profit data is first-hand statistical information, released between 15:00 and 17:00 on working Thursdays each week.

Styrene-acrylic margins turning negative due to volatile feedstock costs is concerning. While pure acrylic holds up, the squeeze on styrene-acrylic profitability highlights raw material risks. Downstream paint demand mig..
