Weekly Outlook for the Aniline Market

Published on 2026-10-08

I. Key Focus Points

Pure Benzene: The US-Iran negotiation channels remain open, coupled with the possibility of further Federal Reserve rate hikes. ICE Brent crude futures for the December contract closed at USD 100.20/bbl, down USD 0.38/bbl (-0.38% WoW). During the holiday period, the East China market was closed, while the Shandong market fluctuated within a high range of CNY 9,950–10,050/ton. With crude oil prices remaining high and port inventories declining during the holiday, fundamental support remains strong. The market is expected to continue fluctuating at high levels this week.

II. Price Table

Region Oct 8 Sep 30 Change
East China 15,020 15,020 0
Shandong 14,800 14,800 0
Notes:
1. Prices in East China (CNY) are ex-works acceptance-inclusive tax prices; prices in Shandong (CNY) are ex-works cash prices.
2. The two price points represent spot prices from the two weeks preceding the current week, not weekly averages.
3. The change value represents the week-over-week variation.

III. Data Table

Aniline Industry Supply-Demand Data
Data Type 2026/9/24 2026/9/17 Change Rate Next Week Outlook
Capacity Utilization Rate 84.72% 84.48% +0.24% ↑
Production Profit Margin 21.63% 20.94% +0.69% ↑
Output 8.66 8.63 +0.03 ↑
1. Capacity utilization rate reflects production metrics, defined as the ratio of actual output by producers' units to their installed capacity.
2. Production profit margin is industry-wide data reflecting overall profitability across mainstream regions, calculated as the ratio of industry profit to average price.
3. Output refers to the domestic aniline industry's weekly production volume, unit: 10,000 tons.

IV. Market Outlook

During the holiday period, trading activity in the domestic aniline market remained sluggish, with little change in market conditions. As aniline prices reached year-to-date highs, some downstream customers showed limited willingness to purchase, shifting instead to nitrobenzene procurement. This drove nitrobenzene prices steadily upward to CNY 9,800–9,900/ton.

With pure benzene feedstock costs staying elevated due to tight port inventories, aniline margins face pressure despite record-high prices. I expect sluggish downstream demand to persist post-holiday, keeping capacity ut..
