Weekly Outlook for Butyl Acrylate (September 14, 2026)

Published on 2026-09-14

I. Key Points

  1. The East China propylene market price trended steadily. At closing, the mainstream price in the East China market was 10,000 RMB/ton (ex-tank); the mainstream price in Ningbo was 10,100 RMB/ton (ex-tank); and the delivered reference price in Southern Jiangsu was approximately 10,100 RMB/ton. Although international oil prices remained strong, providing cost support to the market, downstream resistance to high prices emerged. Procurement follow-up slowed down, dampening trading sentiment. Market quotes generally held steady, with limited fluctuation in actual transaction ranges.
  2. The Jiangsu n-butanol market reference price was 8,850–8,850 RMB/ton (ex-warehouse). The market price center rose slightly. Sustained increases in raw material propylene prices provided strong cost-side support. Market supply was limited, while downstream demand remained primarily for rigid needs.

II. Price Table

Unit: RMB/ton

Notes: 1. Prices are inclusive of VAT in RMB.
2. Prices represent spot values from the previous two business days.
3. Change indicates period-over-period fluctuation.

III. Data Table

Data Type Sep 3 Sep 10 Change Trend Forecast
Acrylic Acid Industry Capacity Utilization Rate 70.70% 69.41% -1.29%
Butyl Acrylate Industry Capacity Utilization Rate 56.32% 56.04% -0.28%
Acrylic Acid Industry Production Profit Margin -3.29% -1.89% +1.40%
Butyl Acrylate Industry Production Profit Margin -10.60% -12.27% -1.67%
1. Capacity utilization rate reflects production indicators, defined as the ratio of output to capacity for producing enterprises' units.
2. Production profit margin is industry-level data reflecting overall profitability in major regions, calculated as industry profit as a percentage of price.
3. Data represents spot values from the previous two business weeks prior to this week, not weekly averages.
4. Change indicates period-over-period rate.

IV. Market Outlook

Last week, the domestic butyl acrylate market experienced significant upward movement. Raw material n-butanol also continued to rise, placing notable pressure on butyl acrylate costs. Holders actively supported the market with firm high-price quotes. Some downstream factories followed up with inquiries based on rigid demand, leading to substantial and firm increases in negotiated transaction prices. It is expected that today's raw material n-butanol will likely remain firm at high levels due to cost-side influences. The butyl acrylate market is projected to consolidate at high levels. Future attention should focus on changes in market supply and downstream demand guidance.

Butyl acrylate gains are driven by rising feedstock costs and limited n-butanol supply, squeezing downstream margins. With capacity utilization declining, I expect firm holder quotes to persist, though high prices may da..
