During this cycle, Asian butadiene market prices rose. Although upstream crude oil prices declined significantly, weakening cost-side support for butadiene, tight spot supply and the floor effect from Chinese spot prices prevented quotations from following the downward trend. According to a domestic butadiene trader, December arrival CFR offers were quoted at $1,950/tonne, while buyers’ psychological price levels hovered around $1,900/tonne. Additionally, Northeast Asian purchasers reported that floating-price CFR cargoes were offered at premiums of $75–100/tonne above the CFR Northeast Asia benchmark.
As per informed sources on November 4, Singapore PCS plans to shut down its No. 2 naphtha cracker and associated butadiene extraction unit for maintenance between mid-July and late August 2027. The downtime for the butadiene unit is expected to extend several days beyond that of the cracking furnaces.
