Weekly Data Statistics on Production Profit of n-Butanol Samples in China (October 9–15, 2026)

Published on 2026-10-15

According to data from Chempricehub, the weekly average profit for n-butanol this week was 8,363 yuan/ton, an increase of 183 yuan/ton compared to the previous period. This rise was primarily driven by sustained increases in the cost of propylene feedstock, which led to higher production costs. Although market prices for n-butanol followed suit with upward trends, the magnitude of the price increase for n-butanol (183 yuan/ton) was smaller than that of propylene (542 yuan/ton). Consequently, despite the nominal profit increase, the domestic gross margin for n-butanol faced downward pressure due to the disproportionate rise in input costs relative to product prices.

Methodology Notes:

  • Profit Calculation: N-butanol profit is defined as the difference between the ex-factory price of n-butanol and its production cost. Chempricehub tracks profits for n-butanol produced via the oxo-synthesis process in the Shandong region.
  • Weekly Average Profit Definition: The reported weekly average profit refers to the mainstream ex-factory gross margin for n-butanol in the Shandong region.
  • Statistical Period: The calculation period runs from Friday of the preceding week to Thursday of the current week.
  • Publication Time: Data is released on Thursdays between 13:30 and 17:00 (local time).

The nominal profit rise masks real margin erosion as propylene feedstock costs surged 542 yuan/ton, far outpacing n-butanol’s 183 yuan gain. This cost-push dynamic pressures Shandong oxo-synthesis producers, squeezing g..
