During the current cycle (October 29 – November 4, 2026), domestic butadiene inventories increased, with total sample inventory rising by 16.22% compared to the previous cycle. Specifically, sample enterprise inventories increased by 5.87% week-over-week. With raw material prices holding firm, downstream acceptance of high prices remained limited, and rigid-demand purchases were generally sluggish, leading to a slight buildup in enterprise stocks. Meanwhile, sample port inventories rose by 24.51% week-over-week, driven by the arrival of imported cargoes during the week.
Sample Description: Butadiene producer inventories cover stocks held by PetroChina, Sinopec, and other enterprises, representing 45% of total domestic butadiene production capacity. The sample consists of 19 enterprises. Port inventories reflect data from the East China region, where commercial tank farms account for 100% of the sample coverage. The port sample includes nine tank farms: four commercial facilities and five enterprise-owned feedstock storage sites.
Definition: Inventories at Chinese butadiene producers and sample tank farms refer to physical stock levels, defined as the actual quantity of product present in warehouses at a specific point in time.
Statistical Scope: Chempricehub’s weekly butadiene inventory statistics are based on data collected on Wednesdays, with reports released by 17:00 on each business Thursday.
