Using the Shandong region as a benchmark, DMC closed at 4,975 CNY/ton today, down 75 CNY/ton from the previous trading day. The domestic DMC market continued its downward trend. Some plants resumed external supply of DMC, resulting in ample overall market supply. Inventory pressure varied among enterprises, with most focusing on sales and offering flexible discounts to clear stock. On the demand side, end-users remained primarily engaged in rigid-demand procurement. Trading sentiment was weak, with significant wait-and-see attitudes prevailing, leading to a slow pace of transactions.

  1. Price Forecast

Overall, supported by strong cost factors and phased downstream restocking, the DMC market is expected to consolidate. Key focus should be placed on raw material trends and downstream acceptance rates.

  1. Related Products

Propylene Oxide (PO): The domestic PO market cooled and retreated today. Supply-side facilities remained largely stable. Influenced by sharp declines in crude oil prices, market sentiment turned bearish. In the morning, there were virtually no inquiries or transactions; upstream and downstream participants adopted a cautious wait-and-see approach. After propylene prices narrowed their decline in the afternoon, a few offers led to limited negotiations and transactions. Most downstream customers continued to hold off on purchases.

Polycarbonate (PC): The domestic PC market traded sideways with a weak, wait-and-see bias. By the close of business, the negotiated range for domestic-grade PC in East China was 13,050–15,100 CNY/ton, maintaining a steady center compared to yesterday, with some minor adjustments in specific grades. No new ex-factory price adjustments were announced by domestic PC producers, continuing the initial weekly pricing structure. In the spot market, East China remained stable while South China saw weak fluctuations. Although international crude oil prices have corrected consecutively, direct feedstocks within the industry chain remain at high levels, providing ongoing cost support for PC. Additionally, circulating spot inventory is limited, keeping traders in a cautious wait-and-see mode with little willingness to offer discounts. Downstream follow-through remains sluggish, and trading activity is quiet.

DMC slid to 4,975 CNY/ton as ample supply met weak downstream demand. With capacity utilization normal, producers face margin pressure. I expect consolidation near cost floors, but limited restocking keeps the trend bear..
