Petroleum-based benzene output stood at 380,900 tons. Compared with the previous cycle, output increased by 9,100 tons, up 2.45%, with a capacity utilization rate of 63.30%, up 1.51% from the previous cycle. During the period, multiple units were restarted, including Zhongjin Petrochemical, Fuhai Weilian, and Panjin Haoye. Loads had not yet been brought up to full capacity, with the output increase mainly materializing over the following two weeks.
The operating rate of domestic benzene hydrogenation units was 63.14%, down 2.84% from the previous week. This week, China's hydrobenzene weekly output stood at 83,800 tons, down 3,700 tons from the previous week. During the week, Hebei Minhai's unit was shut down, while Xinyang and Puyang Zhonghui Phase I experienced brief stoppages.
This week, capacity utilization for the major downstream products styrene and caprolactam increased versus the previous period, while that for phenol, aniline, and adipic acid declined. For styrene, the Dushanzi unit completed its restart; caprolactam units operated with normal fluctuations; for phenol, Formosa Chemicals & Fibre (Ningbo) and Wanhua Chemical's phenol/acetone units were shut down; for aniline, Dongying Caijin had not yet restarted, and one 100,000-ton unit at Nanjing Chemical was shut from August 10 to August 18 for catalyst replacement; for adipic acid, the 200,000-ton unit at Chongqing Huafeng was under maintenance.
For the next period, taking into account recent maintenance and restart activities, capacity utilization is expected to increase for styrene, caprolactam, aniline, and adipic acid, while decreasing for phenol.
