Morning Market Outlook for DBP (September 17, 2026)

Published on 2026-09-17

I. Key Points

  1. Downstream demand for DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate) has increased, with improved willingness to accept deliveries.
  2. High raw material prices provide cost support.
  3. On September 16: Multiple parties attempted to ease tensions in the Middle East. Combined with the Federal Reserve's interest rate hike boosting the USD exchange rate, international crude oil prices fell. NYMEX WTI October contract closed at $102.43/bbl, down $3.40 (-3.21%); ICE Brent November contract closed at $105.83/bbl, down $2.92 (-2.69%). China INE crude oil futures contract 2611 rose by 2.2 to 838.4 RMB/bbl during the day session but fell by 33.6 to 804.8 RMB/bbl in the night session.

  3. All RMB prices in the table above are ex-factory spot cash prices.
  4. The "Previous Period" and "Current Period" prices represent point-in-time values from the two preceding working weeks before this week, not weekly averages.
  5. The change rate represents the period-over-period fluctuation.

III. Market Outlook

Yesterday, domestic DBP market prices remained stable at high levels. It is reported that the upstream phthalic anhydride market saw a slight increase, while n-butanol continued to trade at elevated levels. Strong cost-side support persists for DBP. Downstream demand remains driven by essential procurement needs, with moderate inquiries and transaction volumes. DBP market prices are expected to remain volatile and stable today.

DBP prices hold steady as rising feedstock costs for PA and n-butanol offset the crude oil dip. With strong downstream demand, margins remain tight. I expect volatile stability; watch weekly output data to gauge if capac..
