Morning Market Briefing on Acrylic Acid (September 15, 2026)

Published on 2026-09-15

I. Key Focus Points

  1. Shandong Propylene Market: The Shandong propylene market rebounded after a decline in the previous working day. The mainstream closing reference price was 9,600–9,770 RMB/ton, with an average of 9,685 RMB/ton, representing a decrease of 340 RMB/ton compared to the previous working day. During the weekend, propylene prices remained discounted, leading to increased restocking by traders at lower levels. Combined with localized supply reductions, this boosted trading sentiment within the market. Suppliers slightly raised their offer prices, and premiums for some actual transactions widened, lifting the center of gravity for transaction prices. However, the average price remained weak compared to the previous working day.
  2. Jiangsu n-Butanol Market: The Jiangsu n-butanol market referenced ex-factory prices of 8,800–8,800 RMB/ton in the previous working day. High-end offers softened slightly as raw material propylene prices fell from last Friday, weakening cost-side support. Supply is expected to recover gradually in mid-to-late month, while buyers resisted high market offers.

Unit: RMB/ton

Propylene’s rebound is short-lived, as weak cost support from n-butanol drags down acrylic acid margins. With downstream demand still soft, I expect capacity utilization to stay cautious. This price divergence signals l..
