Morning Market Brief for Acrylic Emulsion

Published on 2026-10-10

I. Key Points

  1. On October 9, the US and Iran stated that negotiations were ongoing, easing market concerns. However, hurricanes continued to suppress US crude oil production, leading to higher international oil prices. NYMEX WTI futures (November contract) closed at $91.85/bbl, up $0.36/bbl (+0.39% WoW); ICE Brent futures (December contract) closed at $104.72/bbl, up $0.44/bbl (+0.42% WoW). China INE crude oil futures (November 2026 contract) rose by 3.9 yuan to 741.3 yuan/bbl during the day session but fell by 1.5 yuan to 739.8 yuan/bbl in the night session.

  2. Domestic MMA prices rose yesterday. Rising costs prompted holders to raise offers, while downstream buyers primarily executed existing contracts with small-lot purchases prevailing. The domestic MMA market is expected to remain firm in the short term.

  3. The domestic butyl acrylate market remained firm yesterday. Upstream propylene prices surged significantly, while feedstocks n-butanol and acrylic acid trended upward due to cost support. This strengthened the cost floor for butyl acrylate, prompting holders to maintain high prices and reducing low-price availability. Downstream demand was limited to necessary procurement, mainly focusing on inventory digestion, causing overall transaction prices to fluctuate upwards. Today’s butyl acrylate market is expected to remain firm at high levels. Future attention should be paid to market supply and the resumption of downstream plants.

III. Market Outlook

Yesterday, raw material markets for MMA and butyl acrylate rose, while styrene surged rapidly before pulling back slightly. Cost-side support remains strong. Acrylic emulsion manufacturers raised their offers under pressure, while end-users entered the market cautiously, observing trends. Low-priced goods have decreased, and market transactions are trending upward. It is expected that raw material markets will continue to rise narrowly today. With strong cost pressures, acrylic emulsion manufacturers are likely to maintain firm offers. Downstream demand will follow rigid needs, suggesting the emulsion market will remain stable. Future attention should be paid to dynamics in the butyl acrylate, MMA, and styrene raw material markets as well as downstream sectors.

Acrylic emulsion margins are squeezed as hurricane-driven oil spikes lift MMA and butyl acrylate feedstock costs. With downstream demand limited to essential procurement, capacity utilization may dip despite strong cost ..
