Morning Market Update: Acrylic Emulsion

Published on 2026-10-09

I. Key Points

  1. On October 8, instability in the Middle East persisted, compounded by hurricanes causing shutdowns at some U.S. offshore oil wells, leading to a rise in international crude oil prices. NYMEX November crude oil futures settled at $91.49/barrel, up $3.21 (+3.64%); ICE December Brent crude futures closed at $104.28/barrel, up $4.08 (+4.07%). China INE November 2026 crude oil futures rose by 41.3 yuan to 737.4 yuan/barrel, while night session trading fell by 4.6 yuan to 732.8 yuan/barrel.

  2. Yesterday, fluctuations in the domestic MMA (methyl methacrylate) market were limited. As it was the first working day after the holiday, raw material prices pushed higher, and holders maintained firm offers. Market sentiment was largely wait-and-see, with downstream inquiries driven primarily by rigid demand and transactions negotiated on a case-by-case basis. The domestic MMA market is expected to remain firm in the short term.

  3. Yesterday, the domestic butyl acrylate market trended upward with volatility. Upstream propylene prices surged significantly, while n-butanol continued its downward consolidation. Acrylic acid, another key feedstock, saw fluctuating gains. Consequently, cost pressures on butyl acrylate remained evident. After the holiday, selling pressure for holders was moderate, and downstream buyers purchased based on actual needs, mainly drawing down existing inventories. Low-priced supplies diminished, shifting the overall transaction center upward amid volatile conditions. Today, the butyl acrylate market is expected to undergo volatile consolidation. Future attention should focus on market supply dynamics and the restart status of downstream facilities.

III. Market Outlook

Yesterday, raw material MMA prices remained stable, butyl acrylate prices trended upward, and the styrene market surged rapidly. Strong support from the cost side pressured acrylic emulsion producers to raise their offers. End-users followed up with purchases driven by rigid demand, leading to an upward shift in transaction prices amidst negotiations. It is anticipated that bullish expectations for raw material markets will persist today, with cost-side pressures likely continuing to weigh on the market. Acrylic emulsion producers may maintain firm offers, while downstream users focus on absorbing price increases. The emulsion market is expected to remain largely stable. Future developments should be monitored regarding raw materials such as butyl acrylate, MMA, and styrene, as well as downstream market trends.

Crude and propylene surges are squeezing acrylic emulsion margins, forcing producers to raise offers. With downstream demand still rigid but cautious, capacity utilization may dip if buyers resist higher feedstock costs...
