Published on 2026-10-19

I. Key Points

  1. Crude Oil: As of October 16, the ongoing conflict between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, combined with the Russia-Ukraine war, has continued to elevate supply risks, driving up international crude oil prices. The NYMEX November crude oil futures contract rose by USD 3.44/bbl to USD 101.41/bbl, a week-on-week increase of +3.51%. The ICE December Brent crude oil futures contract rose by USD 3.94/bbl to USD 109.86/bbl, a week-on-week increase of +3.72%. In China, the INE December 2026 crude oil futures contract fell by CNY 2.2 to CNY 723/bbl during the day session, but rebounded by CNY 16.8 to CNY 739.8/bbl in the night session.

  2. Gasoline: Gasoline prices at Shandong refineries rose over the weekend.

  3. Mixed C5: The mixed C5 market in Shandong fluctuated sideways over the weekend.

Core Logic: Crude oil opened lower, the gasoline market trended upward, while the Shandong mixed C5 market remained volatile.

IV. Market Outlook

The downward opening of crude oil prices provides bearish guidance for the market. Midstream and downstream participants in the gasoline market are primarily selling off inventory or adopting a wait-and-see approach, leading to reduced purchasing enthusiasm. Weighed down by end-user demand, Chempricehub forecasts that the mixed C5 market will trade weakly today.
