On September 25, spot benzene prices in the US Gulf Coast held steady despite weakness in energy markets, as Iran proposed renewed peace talks with the United States and discussions regarding passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
A benzene trader stated, "Prices were slightly softer today as the energy market reacted to news of resumed peace negotiations." The energy sector declined during the session.
September benzene assessments stood unchanged at 563 cents/gallon DDP. October cargo assessments remained stable at 548 cents/gallon DDP, while November cargo assessments also held steady at 522 cents/gallon DDP.
September benzene assessments on an FOB basis were unchanged from the previous day at 566 cents/gallon. October cargo assessments held steady at 551 cents/gallon FOB, and November cargo assessments remained stable at 525 cents/gallon FOB.
The calculated benzene-to-crude ratio for the day was 2.41. September ethylbenzene (EB) spot assessments rose by 24 cents to 575 cents/gallon DDP. October EB DDP assessments increased by 24 cents from the previous day to 544 cents/gallon DDP.
NYMEX WTI crude oil fell $2.20/bbl to $98.01/bbl. October NYMEX RBOB settlement price dropped 17.12 cents from the previous day to 339.34 cents/gallon. November NYMEX RBOB settlement price decreased 14.55 cents from the previous day to 318.75 cents/gallon.
