How large is China's cracked C5 separation capacity and where is it concentrated?
China's cracked C5 separation base is substantial but fragmented. By 2023, C5 capacity reached roughly 4.13 million tonnes with output near 2.6 million tonnes. Leading separators include Huizhou Isco, Shanghai Petrochemical, Ningbo Jinhai Chenguang, Shandong Yuhuang, Fushun Yikesi, Yanshan Petrochemical, Tianli and Luhua Hongjin. Huizhou Isco alone holds about 300,000 tonnes, roughly 10% of domestic capacity, while Tianli runs 150,000 tonnes. Downstream, isoprene output hit 242,000 tonnes, piperylene 231,000 tonnes, DCPD 231,000 tonnes and C5 petroleum resin 471,000 tonnes. Yet utilization remains heavily weighted toward resins and rubber, with high-value fine chemicals still largely imported.
