How is China's isopropylamine supply landscape evolving with new capacity additions?
China's isopropylamine market is undergoing a supply expansion phase. A new 30,000-tonne-per-year isopropylamine project in Tai'an, Shandong, by Tai'an Mingtai New Materials, is set to add significant capacity, producing both mono-isopropylamine (11,340 t/a) and di-isopropylamine (18,750 t/a). This comes on top of existing effective national capacity of roughly 140,000 t/a, dominated by Jianye Chemical and Xinhua Chemical. Xinhua, the largest domestic producer, maintains a 135,000-tonne fatty amine capacity with isopropylamine as its flagship product. The new entrant signals continued interest in the sector, driven by stable downstream demand from pesticides, pharmaceuticals, and rubber chemicals. However, this expansion could intensify competition and pressure margins, especially if pesticide demand growth slows or feedstock costs remain volatile.
