Taking the delivered price in the Shandong Luzhong region as the benchmark, today's closing price was 14,450 CNY/ton, a decrease of 450 CNY/ton compared to the previous period. Today, domestic butadiene market prices continued their downward trend. Early in the week, downstream demand showed no significant improvement, and major downstream synthetic rubber products trended lower. Market participants adopted a cautious wait-and-see attitude. Sporadic transactions at higher prices were heard before noon, but market sentiment weakened further in the afternoon. Downstream buyers lacked follow-through purchasing power, and traders lowered their offers, dragging the market down. The delivered price range in the Shandong Luzhong region was 14,300–14,600 CNY/ton, while the reference price for tank truck pickups in East China was around 14,200 CNY/ton.
On September 14, the domestic butadiene industry operating rate stood at 66.38%, remaining stable compared to the previous working day. Regarding theoretical production profits, Japanese naphtha markets rose on September 14. With Sinopec butadiene prices holding steady at 14,900 CNY/ton, the theoretical production profit for butadiene via C4 extraction declined. The calculated profit for the C4 extraction process was 515.85 CNY/ton.
In the short term, as Dongming Petrochemical units gradually restart, domestic output may see a slight increase. However, downstream demand remains weak, with reduced willingness to purchase butadiene. This suggests that the tightness in circulating spot resources may ease. Nevertheless, considering low inventory levels in the East China region and cost-side support, the domestic butadiene market is expected to remain narrowly weak.
Synthetic Rubber Market: Today, prices for both cis-butadiene rubber (BR) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) declined. In the Shandong market, Daqing BR9000 dropped by 50 CNY/ton to 15,600 CNY/ton, while Qilu SBR 1502 fell by 300 CNY/ton to 15,700 CNY/ton.
