Costs Lack Support; Cyclohexanone Market Declines (Oct 30–Nov 5, 2026)

Published on 2026-11-05
  1. Key Market Focus for the Week

① The spot market for raw material pure benzene fell sharply, resulting in a lack of cost support.
② Cyclohexanone-caprolactam integration rates remain high, leading to weak supply-demand equilibrium in the cyclohexanone spot market.

  1. Weekly Market Analysis

During this period, the weekly average price of cyclohexanone declined. The weekly average spot price in East China was 11,380 yuan/ton, representing a decrease of approximately 2.61% compared to the previous week's average. Within the week, the market price of raw material pure benzene dropped significantly, with Sinopec lowering its listed pure benzene price multiple times to 8,800 yuan/ton, thereby weakening cost-side support. Operating loads for cyclohexanone spot production remained low, and downstream buyers were cautious about following higher prices, causing market prices to fluctuate downward.

  1. Next Week's Market Forecast

The cyclohexanone spot market is expected to follow pure benzene in volatile trading next week. Key points to watch include:

  1. Supply Side: Overall operating loads for domestic commercial cyclohexanone units remain low, keeping spot resource availability stable.
  2. Demand Side: Domestic integrated cyclohexanone-caprolactam capacity accounts for a high proportion, allowing most caprolactam producers to have sufficient self-supplied raw materials. Order momentum in the chemical fiber sector remains weak, while the solvent sector continues to purchase on an as-needed basis, resulting in overall sluggish demand.
  3. Cost Side: The downward shift in costs combined with weakening supply-demand dynamics has created a resonance effect. The supply-demand balance sheet is turning toward surplus, and inventory accumulation at ports is exerting pressure on prices. The market is expected to continue weak volatility next week, with spot negotiation references in the East China market ranging between 8,000–8,500 yuan/ton.

With pure benzene costs sliding, cyclohexanone lost its price floor. High caprolactam integration keeps spot supply tight but demand weak. I expect continued volatility as low operating loads fail to offset sluggish down..
