Published on 2026-09-24

According to a report by Chempricehub on September 24, domestic production costs for vinyl acetate (VAM) via the calcium carbide route are estimated at an average weekly price of RMB 6,988 per ton. The unit consumption of VAM required to produce one ton of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) ranges from approximately 1.7 to 1.9 tons. Based on these figures, the theoretical weekly average cost of PVA stands at RMB 8,778.4 per ton. Using Great Wall Energy & Chemical’s listed price of RMB 1,799 as a reference, the theoretical gross margin—including crude methyl acetate—is calculated at RMB 2,723.3 per ton.
