Published on 2026-09-08

Chempricehub News, August 27 – According to Chempricehub data estimates, the current weekly average cost of calcium carbide-based vinyl acetate in China is 5,815.7 yuan/ton. Producing 1 ton of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) consumes approximately 1.7–1.9 tons of vinyl acetate, putting the weekly average theoretical cost of PVA at 8,249.83 yuan/ton. Taking the listed price of Changcheng Energy Chemical's PVA 1799 grade as an example, the theoretical gross profit (including crude methyl acetate) is 2,350.17 yuan/ton.

The calcium-carbide vinyl acetate feedstock cost of 5,815 yuan/ton keeps PVA theoretical margins around 2,350, but capacity utilization and downstream demand will decide if that margin holds.
