China Acrylonitrile Production and Capacity Utilization Rate Weekly Data Statistics (20260904-0910)

Published on 2026-09-10

I. Qualitative Analysis of Sample Production and Capacity Utilization Trends

This week (September 4–10, 2026), the total production of Chinese acrylonitrile plants was 86,400 mt, up 2,200 mt week on week; weekly capacity utilization was 74.02%, up 1.83 percentage points week on week. During the week, units at Sierbang, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical, and others were gradually resuming operations.

II. Forecast Analysis of Sample Production and Capacity Utilization Trends

Next week, the sample weekly production of Chinese acrylonitrile plants is expected to be around 90,000 mt, and capacity utilization is expected to be around 76–77%, continuing to rise from the current period as units at Sierbang, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical, and others resume operations.

III. Comparison of Sample Production and Capacity Utilization Trends with Product Prices

As of this week, sample weekly production and operating rates at Chinese acrylonitrile plants increased, while acrylonitrile prices fell rapidly.

Sample note: The acrylonitrile production and capacity utilization statistics compiled by Chempricehub cover the total output of all Chinese acrylonitrile producers, including 19 domestic acrylonitrile plants, with 100% sample coverage.

Terminology:

Production: Generally refers to the quantity of products meeting relevant standards actually produced by a manufacturing enterprise over a period (not the concept of commodity volume; it refers to the weight or volume of goods under a certain unit of measurement), i.e., actual output.

Capacity utilization: Refers to the degree to which an enterprise's capacity is utilized, also called operating load. It is generally calculated as the ratio of product output or feedstock processing volume to effective capacity. (At the end of each year, Chempricehub removes capacity that has been shut down continuously for two calendar years or more from effective capacity, classifying it as zombie capacity, and does not use it as the base for calculating capacity utilization.)

Statistical scope: The statistical period for Chempricehub's acrylonitrile production and capacity utilization data is from Friday of the previous week to Thursday of the current week. Data are released at 17:00 on Thursdays (working days).

Acrylonitrile output climbing to 86.4kt with capacity utilization at 74% signals ample supply; I'd watch downstream demand and margin pressure if restarts keep outpacing offtake.
