ChemPriceHub Key Reminder: The Xinhecheng Project Drives Demand for Butadiene
Published on 2026-02-08

Recently, the first phase of the Tianjin NHU New Materials Project has obtained construction permits, with above-ground construction set to commence imminently. The project, with a total investment of approximately 10 billion yuan, utilizes proprietary butadiene-based adiponitrile technology to establish a complete industrial chain encompassing adiponitrile, hexamethylenediamine, and nylon 66. The first phase is planned to produce 100,000 tons of adiponitrile, 100,000 tons of hexamethylenediamine, and 140,000 tons of nylon 66 annually, while the second phase aims for an annual output of 400,000 tons of nylon 66. The products will be applied in sectors such as automotive, electronics and electrical, and new energy.

PriceSeek's analysis of butadiene rubber indicates a bullish-bearish score of 2. The project employs butadiene-based technology for adiponitrile production, with the first phase targeting an annual output of 100,000 tons of adiponitrile, directly increasing the demand for butadiene as a raw material. As a core feedstock for synthetic rubber, tightening supply and demand of butadiene are expected to significantly drive up spot prices. Based on the latest data from the Shanghai Futures Exchange's main contract 2603 (closing price of 12,790 yuan per ton, with a decrease in open interest), the anticipated new production capacity is projected to reverse the current market weakness, stimulate bullish sentiment in futures, and drive up forward contracts.
