Chempricehub Alert: Progress in Commissioning of Shandong Depu Dimethyl Carbonate Project

Published on 2026-01-05

January 5th News
Recently, Shandong Depu New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. is conducting equipment debugging for its 500,000-ton dimethyl carbonate (DMC) industrialization project. This project pioneers a 100,000-ton-level industrial system for catalytic polymerization of carbon dioxide, which can convert carbon dioxide into dimethyl carbonate—the primary raw material for lithium battery electrolyte solvents—thereby overcoming the challenge of carbon resource conversion.
Chempricehub's analysis of dimethyl carbonate indicates a bearish score of -1. The addition of 500,000 tons of new production capacity will increase supply and put pressure on spot prices. Technological breakthroughs in reducing production costs may further ease market supply and demand, leading to a decline in prices.
