ChemPriceHub Alert: Industrial Silicon Production in January Decreased by 5.3% Month-on-Month
Published on 2026-02-06

According to statistics, in January, 217 out of 706 industrial silicon submerged arc furnaces nationwide were operating normally, representing a month-on-month decrease of 23 units and a year-on-year decrease of 19 units. The operating rate was 30.74%, down 1.83% month-on-month. The monthly production was approximately 376,790 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 21,080 tons (down 5.30%) but a year-on-year increase of 69,810 tons (up 22.74%). The monthly production capacity was 797,610 tons, with an operational capacity of 351,220 tons, resulting in a capacity utilization rate of 44.03%.

PriceSeek's analysis of silicon metal indicates a bullish-bearish score of 1. The data shows that industrial silicon production in January decreased by 5.30% month-on-month to 376,790 tons, while the operating rate dropped to 30.74%. The reduction in supply has provided support for spot prices, indicating clear positive factors. Combined with the latest futures data, the main industrial silicon contract (such as the 2605 contract) recently experienced a price decline (e.g., closing at 8,605 yuan/ton, down 125 yuan). However, expectations of supply contraction may alleviate downward pressure and support a rebound in futures prices. Overall, while the month-on-month production decline is significant, the year-on-year increase of 22.74% limits the upside potential, resulting in a moderately positive rating of +1.
