ChemPriceHub Alert: Brazil's Cotton Exports Increase by 4.2%

Published on 2026-01-05

From January to December 2025, Brazil's cotton exports reached 2.89 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%, with Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, India, and Indonesia being the primary export destinations. PriceSeek's analysis of lint cotton indicates a bearish score of -1. Brazil's cotton export volume of 2.89 million tons in 2025, up 4.2% year-on-year and mainly shipped to Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, India, and Indonesia, suggests an increase in global cotton supply, exerting downward pressure on spot prices of lint cotton. The ample supply may dampen spot demand. Combined with the lint cotton futures (Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange contract 2605 closing at 14,585 yuan/ton, up by +40), recent prices show a slight increase. However, the news of export growth reinforces expectations of a looser supply in the future, potentially leading to a correction in futures prices and short-term bearish market sentiment.
