ChemPriceHub, November 4 – Concentrated maintenance at methanol plants in inland Northwest China has constrained domestic supply growth. Multiple coal-based methanol units in Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, and Henan are scheduled for maintenance from late October through November, limiting the potential for a significant rise in overall operating rates in inland regions. Amid volatile coal prices, the cost center for coal-based methanol remains supported. Inventories among producers in these regions are relatively low (sample enterprise inventories stood at 310,800 tons, down week-on-week). Spot auction performance in inland areas has been moderately positive, providing some downside support to futures prices.
