Are Organic Chemicals prices finally turning after four years of decline?
MDI and TDI prices have reversed after a four-year slide, with pure MDI up nearly 30 percent year on year and TDI up over 31 percent. The key signal is that price, volume and exports are rising together on the leading producer, which historically marks a genuine cycle start rather than restocking. Ethane-based cost advantages are also widening versus naphtha routes. Still, the industry is only just climbing out of losses, and European capacity closures have barely begun, so this looks like an early-stage recovery, not a peak.

Watch whether volume and export strength persist into the next quarter. If they do, the trough is confirmed. If only price holds, it is inventory building, not real demand. Feedstock spreads between ethane and naphtha routes will decide who captures the margin.
