α-Pinene (CAS 2437-95-8) is a colourless liquid monoterpene with a characteristic pine aroma, insoluble in water, with a boiling point of 155–156 °C and a flash point of 90 °F. It is a key industrial intermediate derived from natural turpentine, used across flavours, fragrances, and chemical synthesis.

Flavours & fragrances: a building block for linalool, geraniol, citral, and other aroma chemicals.
Pharmaceuticals: an active ingredient in mucolytic formulations (e.g., eucalyptol, limonene and pinene capsules) with anti-inflammatory and bronchodilator effects.
Industrial: monomer for polyterpene resins via cationic polymerisation, used as tackifiers in adhesives; also a feedstock for plasticisers and camphor synthesis.
Chemical synthesis: substrate for isomerisation to camphene and other terpene products.
