As of September 16, 2026, total methanol port inventories in China stood at 423,900 tonnes, a decrease of 127,600 tonnes from the previous reporting period. Specifically, East China saw inventory drawdowns totaling 105,100 tonnes, while South China recorded a reduction of 22,500 tonnes.
This week, methanol port inventories continued to experience significant drawdowns as expected. During the period, visible arrivals from foreign vessels totaled 68,000 tonnes, with some ongoing unloading operations already accounted for. In Jiangsu, high levels of outflows were sustained by shipments to end-users along the Yangtze River and transshipment activities. Zhejiang also maintained steady demand driven by essential consumption needs. Meanwhile, port inventories in South China fell to new lows. In Guangdong, domestic supply replenishment was minimal, but transshipment loading continued to support outflows, while road transport demand remained focused on essential needs, driving inventories down again. Fujian received no vessel arrivals during the period, and downstream users consumed stock on an as-needed basis, leading to a simultaneous decline in inventories.

Sample Description: The methanol port inventory sample covers real-time physical methanol stocks within 40 domestic storage facilities, representing a sample coverage rate of 75%.
Terminology Explanation: This refers to the total physical inventory of specific commodities actually stored in warehouses or tanks at ports within a given cycle. It includes goods within bonded zones but excludes cargo currently on vessels at port. "Visible inventory" and "visible unloading" refer to stocks and unloaded quantities located within the statistical sample facilities; conversely, "non-visible" refers to those outside the sample. Currently, the port inventory data compiled by this network does not include Tianjin, Lianyungang, Dalian, Laizhou, Longkou, Nanjing Qingjiang storage area, Nantong Sinochem storage area, Shanghai Dongfang Terminal, Shanghai Fubao Caojing, Zhoushan Yushan Terminal (Zhejiang), Sinochem Yangzhou, Guangdong Huizhou Dagang, and Guangdong Maoming Bohe.
Statistical Methodology: Chempricehub’s methanol port inventory data represents real-time stock levels in methanol storage areas every Wednesday. As primary statistical data, it is released at 14:00 on Wednesdays (working days).
