As of October 8, 2026, total methanol port inventory in China stood at 305,100 tonnes, a decrease of 88,400 tonnes from the previous reporting period. Specifically, East China experienced destocking with inventory falling by 79,900 tonnes, while South China saw destocking with inventory decreasing by 8,500 tonnes.
This week, methanol port inventories continued to hit historic lows, with only 23,500 tonnes of visible vessel discharge recorded during the period. During the National Day holiday, major Jiangsu riverbank terminals maintained high off-take rates supported by downstream essential demand via vessel shipments and exports. Despite domestic supply replenishment, significant destocking persisted. In Zhejiang, traditional essential demand remained stable, with minor replenishment from individual vessels leading to narrow fluctuations in inventory levels. South China port inventories saw slight destocking this week. In Guangdong, limited domestic vessel supplies arrived during the holiday, accompanied by small volumes of transshipment shipments; however, truck-based off-take was restricted due to the holiday, resulting in a marginal increase in inventory. In Fujian, no vessels arrived, and downstream consumption proceeded as needed, leading to destocking.

Sample Description: The methanol port inventory sample covers real-time physical methanol stocks within 40 domestic storage areas, with a sample coverage rate of 75%.
Terminology Explanation: This refers to the total physical inventory of specific commodities actually stored in warehouses or tanks at ports within a given cycle. It includes goods within bonded zones but excludes cargo on vessels currently in port. "Visible inventory" and "visible discharge" refer to stocks held in and unloaded into the statistical sample storage areas, respectively; "non-visible" refers to the opposite. Note that the current port inventory statistics do not include Tianjin, Lianyungang, Dalian, Laizhou, Longkou, Nanjing Qingjiang Storage Area, Nantong Sinochem Storage Area, Shanghai Oriental Terminal, Shanghai Fubao Caojing, Zhejiang Zhoushan Yushan Terminal, Yangzhou Sinochem, Guangdong Huizhou Dagang, or Guangdong Maoming Bohe.
Statistical Methodology: Chempricehub's methanol port inventory data represents real-time stock figures from methanol storage areas every Wednesday. This is primary statistical data, released at 14:00 on Wednesdays (working days).
