As of September 23, 2026, total methanol port inventories in China stood at 412,000 tons, a decrease of 11,900 tons from the previous period. Specifically, inventories in East China declined by 41,300 tons due to destocking, while inventories in South China increased by 29,400 tons due to restocking.

Methanol port inventories continued to decline this week. Visible foreign vessel unloading volumes totaled 126,000 tons during the reporting period. Against a backdrop of low inventory bases, apparent demand softened slightly. In Jiangsu Province, pickup volumes from mainstream storage areas along the Yangtze River decreased compared to the previous week. There were no export shipments this week, and domestic waterborne replenishments were limited. In Zhejiang Province, two olefin plants have completely shut down, while traditional essential demand remained stable elsewhere.
In South China, port inventories saw a slight increase. In Guangdong Province, supply was supplemented by both imported vessels and domestic trade ships. Some imported cargoes arrived at non-visible terminals, while pickup volumes from mainstream storage areas remained moderate, leading to a marginal inventory buildup. In Fujian Province, inventories also rose as imported supplies were replenished and downstream consumption proceeded on an as-needed basis.

Sample Description: The methanol port inventory sample covers real-time physical methanol stocks within 40 domestic storage areas, representing a sample coverage rate of 75%.
Terminology Explanation: This refers to the total physical inventory of specific commodities actually stored in warehouses or tanks at ports over a given period. It includes goods within bonded zones but excludes cargo currently onboard vessels in port. "Visible inventory" and "visible unloading" refer to stocks and unloading volumes within the statistical sample's storage areas, respectively; "non-visible" refers to those outside the sample. Currently, the port inventory statistics compiled by our network do not include Tianjin, Lianyungang, Dalian, Laizhou, Longkou, Nanjing Qingjiang Storage Area, Nantong Sinochem Storage Area, Shanghai Oriental Terminal, Shanghai Fubao Caojing, Zhejiang Zhoushan Yushan Terminal, Sinochem Yangzhou, Guangdong Huizhou Dagang, and Guangdong Maoming Bohe.
Statistical Scope: Chempricehub Information’s methanol port inventory data represents real-time stock levels collected every Wednesday. As primary data, it is released at 14:00 on Wednesdays.
