Weekly Data on Sample Production Profit in China’s C5 Industry Chain (October 23–29, 2026)

Published on 2026-10-29

On October 29, the pyrolysis C5 index rose by 0.91% compared to the previous week. The downstream pyrolysis C5 residual liquid price index increased by 6.20%, isoprene rose by 1.63%, piperylene increased by 2.36%, and dicyclopentadiene prices climbed by 4.12%. Overall, the price increases for pyrolysis C5 were weaker than those for its downstream products, leading to a significant rise in separation profits.

Looking ahead to next week, pyrolysis C5 prices are expected to see localized increases. However, given limited upward momentum for pentadienes, the price of pyrolysis C5 residual liquid is likely to remain stable, causing C5 separation profits to decline slightly.

Table: Pyrolysis C5 Industry Chain Separation Profit Table

Unit: RMB/ton

Product Name 10/22 10/15 Change
Pyrolysis C5 Spot Price Index 7446 7379 67
Isoprene (Polymer Grade) Spot Price Index 14672 14436 236
Piperylene (For Petroleum Resin) Spot Price Index 9829 9602 227
Dicyclopentadiene (Polyester Grade) Spot Price Index 10245 9840 405
Pyrolysis C5 Residual Liquid Price Index (Main Production Regions in China) 9080 8550 530
C5 Separation Profit (Theoretical) 319 -8 327

The sharp divergence between C5 feedstock and residual liquid prices boosted separation margins, but weak pentadiene demand suggests this gain is unsustainable. I expect localized price hikes to narrow profits next week ..
