Weekly Data Analysis on Cost and Profit of Chinese Sulfuric Acid Samples (October 2–9, 2026)

Published on 2026-10-10

I. Qualitative Analysis of Sample Cost and Profit Trends

This week, liquid sulfur prices in East China saw a slight adjustment. The reference price for liquid sulfur in East China stood at 7,295 RMB/ton. Based on this price, the raw material cost for sulfuric acid production is approximately 2,431.67 RMB/ton. Although steam generated from sulfur offsets part of the expenses, when including costs such as water, electricity, labor, and equipment depreciation, the total cost of sulfuric acid amounts to 2,334.15 RMB/ton. Currently, the reference price for sulfuric acid in East China is 2,000 RMB/ton. Among the three types of acid production methods, the profit margin for sulfur-burned acid is -345.94 RMB/ton, for pyrite-burned acid it is -156 RMB/ton, and for smelter gas acid it is 920 RMB/ton.

II. Forecast Analysis of Sample Cost Trends

Overall, the weak performance of the USD-denominated market has led industry participants to maintain a wait-and-see attitude. Spot trading sentiment remains largely unchanged compared to pre-holiday levels, with only individual merchants replenishing stock based on demand, resulting in no significant fluctuation in market prices. Subsequently, further weakness in USD offers prompted existing inquiries within ports to test lower prices. Holders' sentiment has not turned excessively negative, and transaction prices for sporadic small orders have remained stable without notable changes. Future procurement intentions of long-term contract suppliers are worth monitoring.

III. Product Sample Trends and Price Comparison

Raw material prices have undergone minor adjustments, leading to slight fluctuations in recent profit margins. Future changes in costs and prices may continue to drive ongoing adjustments in profitability.
