Based on delivered prices in the Shandong Luzhong region, today's price closed at RMB 14,775/mt, down RMB 175/mt from the previous day. Today, domestic butadiene market prices declined. Higher crude oil prices made butadiene's cost side relatively firm. Sporadic offers and deals were still heard before noon, while market sentiment weakened notably in the afternoon. Downstream buying follow-through was moderate, and cautious wait-and-see sentiment intensified, prompting sellers to lower offers to move cargoes; actual transaction prices moved lower, and the market edged down. Delivered prices in the Shandong Luzhong region were RMB 14,700-14,850/mt, while ex-tank self-pickup prices in East China were referenced at RMB 14,500/mt.
On September 11, China's butadiene industry capacity utilization rate was 64.59%, up 0.06 percentage points from the previous working day. In terms of theoretical production profit, on September 10, the Japanese naphtha market rose, Sinopec's butadiene price remained stable at RMB 14,900/mt, and the theoretical production profit from butadiene C4 extraction declined; the profit under the C4 extraction process was calculated at RMB 5,613.89/mt.
In the short term, some shut-down units are expected to restart, domestic output may increase, and the tight spot supply situation may ease, providing limited support to the market. Downstream enterprise demand has weakened noticeably, and weak follow-through from rigid-demand buying may drag on market trends. The butadiene market is expected to face downward pressure; however, considering uncertainty over the direction of the situation in the Middle East, with support from high crude oil prices, the decline is expected to be limited.
Synthetic rubber market: Today, polybutadiene rubber market prices fell, while styrene-butadiene rubber market prices remained stable. In the Shandong market, Daqing BR9000 fell by RMB 50/mt to RMB 15,650/mt, while Qilu SBR 1502 in the Shandong market remained stable at RMB 16,000/mt.
