1. Monthly Market Analysis
During this period, the fluorspar market consolidated at high levels, with strong upward price sentiment. In August, overall sentiment in the 97% fluorite powder market was quite buoyant. At the beginning of the month, anhydrous hydrofluoric acid (AHF) pricing rose by 400–600 yuan/ton. In addition, mine shutdowns in major producing areas such as Zhejiang, Jiangxi, and Fujian continued to slow the pace of spot supply releases, while large downstream plants in the north still had not shown signs of resuming operations. These multiple factors continuously reinforced holders' price-supporting sentiment in the fluorspar market. Supply-side offers remained at high levels, while downstream acceptance was limited. Market sentiment diverged between the north and the south early in the month. In the northern market, imported/foreign-source material flowed in smoothly, and major northern downstream buyers entered the market to purchase, ultimately procuring within a rational upward price range. By that point, downstream demand had largely completed its phased purchases, and the upward push sentiment in the north receded. However, the southern market maintained a strong atmosphere, and some downstream enterprises, holding limited inventories, had relatively urgent procurement needs. As a result, high-grade transaction prices of 3,800–3,850 yuan/ton guided the market, though trading volume at these high prices was limited. Most downstream buyers resisted such levels due to the drag from end-user demand. By mid-month, the intensity of supply-demand bargaining eased, and southern transaction prices were mostly concentrated at 3,700–3,750 yuan/ton. In late August, persistent bearish signals from end-use demand and ongoing bearish long-term views among market participants meant that despite price-supportive sentiment, actual market settlement still awaited guidance from the next month's AHF pricing. Sentiment fluctuated frequently during the month, and overall operations were cautiously oriented.
2. Analysis of Market Influencing Factors
Mining and ore-dressing enterprises were still undergoing safety inspections, leading to tighter supply and intensified bargaining between supply and demand sides.
Downstream industry pricing continued to rise substantially, while AHF operating rates remained limited.
3. Next-Month Market Forecast
In September, the fluorspar price index is expected to rise to 3,600 yuan/ton, up 39 yuan/ton month-on-month, an increase of 1.10%, indicating a range-bound upward trend. The fluorspar and anhydrous hydrofluoric acid markets are expected to maintain an upward trajectory in the coming period, but with limited room for gains. Although the fluorspar market still has some space for price support, downstream buying is likely to remain muted. Bearish signals continue to transmit from end-use markets, and downstream participants maintain bearish long-term outlooks, mainly consuming existing inventories.
