Sulphur Market Morning Brief (September 10, 2026)

Published on 2026-09-10
  1. Market Review

Yesterday, the transaction price in the imported granular sulfur market was 7,800 yuan/mt, down 30 yuan/mt, or 0.38%, day on day. The market’s inquiry and buying atmosphere turned quiet again, causing the market to correct downward. Yesterday, the Shandong liquid sulfur market was mainly upward, with Shandong independent refinery auction transaction prices reaching 7,603-7,900 yuan/mt. Downstream demand remained strong, providing rigid support for feedstock purchases. Auction sentiment in the market remained active, and mainstream transaction prices steadily edged up. Against a tight supply-demand backdrop, suppliers showed a clear intention to hold prices and were reluctant to sell, and overall market sentiment was strongly bullish. Yesterday, trading enthusiasm in Northwest China remained unabated, with market transactions in the range of 7,450-8,860 yuan/mt. Liquid prices in Northeast China were stable, with mainstream liquid sulfur market prices at 7,750-7,826 yuan/mt. Prices are expected to fluctuate in the short term.

I see sulfur split: Shandong liquid firms on downstream demand, supporting feedstock cost, while imported granular eases. Risk is a margin squeeze if downstream demand cools; expect range-bound prices.
